As I traveled around the United States training employees on FMLA issues, one of the questions that I was often asked was if you may discipline employees who take more time than their FMLA paperwork specifies. Jeff Nowak is an attorney in Chicago and he writes a FMLA blog entitled, "FMLA Insights". I recommended that all of my participants join his blog as he will keep you up-to-date on FMLA issues. See the attached blog from Mr. Nowak where he provides the answer to this question.

If your company would like someone to assist you with your FMLA needs or train your supervisors on FMLA, please feel free to contact me at 813-210-3192.
